Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –There have been three confirmed cases of cyclosporiasis this year according to NM Health officials. The parasitic illness is linked to contaminated fresh fruits and vegetables. The CDC has reported more than 140 cases in 17 other states since May. Health experts say the Cyclospora parasite has been linked with contaminated produce, including leafy greens, berries, and herbs. According to experts the best thing to do is wash your produce thoroughly and be on alert for any symptoms that occur. If symptoms persist or you become dehydrated seeing a doctor right away is advised.
