Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –AFR crews rescued a hiker after a medical emergency on the Embudo Trail Wednesday morning. Firefighters were dispatched just before 11 a.m. to reports of a hiker experiencing a medical episode. Crews, along with Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputies, Albuquerque Police, and New Mexico Search and Rescue, launched a coordinated search to locate the hiker. Because of the rugged terrain and the hiker’s condition, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office Metro 4 helicopter was called in to assist. The helicopter safely airlifted the hiker to the trailhead parking lot, where Albuquerque Ambulance crews were waiting. No additional information has been released.
