Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –A new application deadline has been announced for New Mexico’s Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program. The program offers up to $80,000 in student loan repayment assistance to veterinarians who commit to practicing in rural, frontier, and tribal communities across the state. State officials say the goal is to address ongoing shortages of veterinarians serving food-animal and agricultural industries, particularly in areas where access to veterinary care remains limited. The incentive is designed to help recruit and retain veterinarians in communities that rely heavily on livestock and agriculture. Applicants now have until August 1st to apply for the program. Additional information and eligibility requirements are available through the New Mexico Higher Education Department.
