ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Albuquerque Balloon Museum is hosting a special STEAM Night later this month celebrating the 100th anniversary of Route 66.
The event, “STEAM Night: Route 66,” is scheduled for July 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will focus on the historic highway through activities centered on science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
Organizers say the event will feature hands-on activities, local history, and creative exhibits highlighting Route 66’s impact on New Mexico and beyond.

- A presentation from New Mexico State Historian Rob Martinez
- A close-up look at Balloons Over Route 66, a mural created by artist Jessey Sandoval and local youth
- Live music from DJ Chamar Valdez
- Food available for purchase from a local food truck
- A display featuring the Zozobra hot air balloon, weather permitting
Museum officials say the event is designed for all ages and blends education with cultural storytelling tied to one of America’s most recognizable roadways.
Admission to STEAM Night is included with regular museum entry, and tickets are available both online and at the door.
