ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Drivers in Albuquerque are facing traffic disruptions this week as crews continue overnight work on Interstate 25 near Montgomery Boulevard.
The New Mexico Department of Transportation says I-25 is closed in both directions at Montgomery Boulevard as crews demolish the existing bridge over the interstate. The closures are scheduled nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Thursday.
During the closures, traffic is being redirected onto the Pan American Frontage Road, crossing Montgomery Boulevard and re-entering I-25 using the on-ramps.
In addition, Montgomery Boulevard is closed in both directions between Culture Drive and the northbound frontage road, with detours routed through nearby streets including Comanche Road, Carlisle Boulevard, and Jefferson Street.
Officials say the demolition is part of the broader I-25 Improved project, which includes upgrades to ramps, frontage roads, and traffic flow features aimed at reducing congestion in the area.
Construction crews are continuing work overnight as part of the multi-phase project
