ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico United is hosting its second annual High School Summer Classic beginning Monday at the Mesa del Sol and Bernalillo Soccer Complexes.
The preseason tournament runs across three matchdays — June 29, July 6, and a championship round on July 13 — and features top high school soccer programs from around the state.
This year’s event includes 12 boys varsity teams and introduces a new six-team girls division, expanding the tournament’s reach.
According to organizers, the Classic is designed to highlight high school talent while providing teams with additional preseason competition. New Mexico United officials say there are plans to continue growing the event in future years.
Tournament Format
The boys bracket includes 12 teams split into two groups, while the girls bracket features six teams. Both divisions will play across two preliminary matchdays before a championship round.

- Points
- Goal differential
- Goals scored
- Goals conceded
- Coin toss

Attendance Information
Spectators are allowed at matches, but organizers note there is no bleacher seating, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
Food, pets, and outside items are not allowed on the turf fields, with water being the only permitted beverage inside fenced areas. Security will be on site to enforce rules.
All participating teams will also receive tickets to New Mexico United’s home match against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks on August 1.
