Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) Construction begins today on a project to install solar-covered parking at the Alameda Open Space at Alameda and Rio Grande Blvds. The project is a partnership between The Water Authority, the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. When completed, the project will offset about 35 percent of the Water Authority’s electricity use at its nearby Raw Water Pump Station, which sends river water to a nearby treatment plant. The project will also provide two electric vehicle charging stations and a solar flower installation that will track the sun’s movements and provide education about solar energy. The project will be built in three phases and is expected to be completed by the end of September.
