Eight New Mexico students have been awarded more than $10,000 in scholarships, tools and equipment as recipients of the 2026 SW Community Empowerment Foundation Scholarship and Tool Awards. The students are pursuing careers in construction, automotive technology, massage therapy and other skilled professions. Recipients of the awards were chosen based on their commitment to their chosen profession, educational achievement, career goals, and potential to make a positive impact within their industries and communities. The scholarship and tool award program helps students overcome financial barriers and enter careers in the trades and service industries. The awards come from a partnership between the Better Business Bureau serving NM and southwest Colorado, the SW Community Empowerment Foundation, Associated Builders and Contractors NM, IntelliTec College and industry partners.
