Edgewood, NM (KKOB) – Tonight is when the Edgewood town commissioners are set to vote on a new agreement with Santa Fe County to continue to receive fire and emergency medical services from the county. The deadline for reaching an agreement was to expire on June 30th. Disagreements over costs and how much Edgewood was paying compared to the actual cost of services threatened to end the agreement once it expired.
Santa Fe County has been providing services to Edgewood since 2005. An agreement appeared to be done earlier this month, then the county backed out after an Edgewood commissioner was accused of requesting changes without informing the county. Edgewood leaders say that they are ready to vote on it during the regular meeting tonight which is at 6 p.m. at the Town Hall. The agreement still needs to be approved by Santa Fe County before it can take effect july 1st.
