BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. — South Valley residents are being invited to a wildfire preparedness town hall aimed at helping the community better prepare for potential fire risks.
Bernalillo County Fire and Rescue, along with County Commissioner Frank Baca, will host the event on Wednesday, June 24, at 6 p.m. at the Los Padillas Community Center.
Officials say the meeting will cover key topics including how to create defensible space around homes, reduce wildfire risk, and develop evacuation plans for families and pets. Residents will also receive information on current fire restrictions, prevention efforts, and how to sign up for emergency alerts.
The town hall will include a question-and-answer session, giving attendees the opportunity to speak directly with fire officials and emergency management experts.
County leaders say events like this are designed to help residents take proactive steps as wildfire risks continue to change each year.
Those unable to attend can find additional preparedness resources on the Bernalillo County website.
