SANTA FE, N.M. — New Mexico-based immersive arts company Meow Wolf is bringing its signature style to one of television’s most iconic shows.
Meow Wolf has collaborated with The Simpsons to create a reimagined couch gag featured in an upcoming episode premiering June 17 on Disney+. The special opening places the long-running animated series alongside a short list of past collaborators, including Banksy, Guillermo del Toro, and Don Hertzfeldt.
According to the company, the sequence begins in a familiar setting before quickly shifting into a surreal, multi-dimensional experience. Marge Simpson is pulled out of her world and into a universe inspired by Meow Wolf installations, featuring visual references and hidden details tied to the company’s exhibits.
The sequence also includes a tribute to the late Meow Wolf co-founder Matt King and incorporates elements that blend animation with immersive, physical art concepts.
The collaboration appears in the episode titled “Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition,” part of a set of new episodes streaming exclusively on Disney+ this summer.
Meow Wolf, which started as a DIY art collective in Santa Fe, has grown into a nationally recognized company with installations across the U.S., including locations in Las Vegas, Denver, and Texas. Officials say the project reflects the company’s roots in experimental, collaborative storytelling.
The episode debuts June 17.
