Valencia County, NM (KKOB) – Several small earthquakes have been rocking portions of Valencia and Socorro counties since Saturday and even this morning according to the U.S Geological Survey. The majority of the quakes were in and around the small community of Abeytas, on the border of Socorro and Valencia Counties or about 10 miles from Jarales, NM.
The other epicenter was in the Las Nutrias area. The largest quake was a 3.9 on Sunday, and the latest was reported early this morning just after 2 a.m. and reported as 2.9 on the Richter scale.
Residents in Belen, Rio Communities and Los Lunas have all reported feeling at least one of the quakes. A spokesperson with the Valencia County Fire Department says there is no reported damage or injuries at this time.
