Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –The NM Higher Education Department has announced that applications are now open for NM veterinarians to apply for up to $80,000 in student loan repayment assistance the the state’s Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program. Recipients must commit to serving rural, frontier and tribal communities to qualify for the repayment program. The committment is a minimum of four years. The application deadline is July 1st and applicants must apply on the NM Higher Education Department’s website. The program is part of a broader statewide effort to strengthen New Mexico’s workforce in high demand fields while improving access to critical veterinary services for communities, producers and animal owners.
