A newly constructed steel border wall divides the town of Sunland Park, N.M., from Anapra, in Mexico north of the city of Ciudad Juárez
Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Monday morning, the Sunland Park Fire Department responded to a fall at the border wall. Officials reported that a male, about 38 years of age sustained lower extremity injuries after falling off the border wall about 2:40 a.m. at the end of Anapra Road in Sunland Park, New Mexico. The town’s Fire Chief Daniel Medrano said the fall was approximately 15 feet, and it looks like the injured person might have been hanging off the side of the wall. The victim was transported to the hospital. Medrano said that the Sunland Park area is a very popular area for migrants to cross over the border, and at this point, he has had about 19 migrant related calls this year, most being trauma-related.
