Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – Summer grocery benefits for New Mexico families will begin rolling out after a federal delay. State officials say starting June 15, nearly 293,000 children will receive 120 dollars each through the SUN Bucks program. Also known as Summer EBT, the program helps families cover food costs when school meals are not available during the summer months. Most eligible families will receive the benefit automatically, without needing to apply. Officials say this year’s rollout was delayed about 30 days due to federal staffing cuts. State leaders say they are now working to distribute the funds as quickly as possible.
Families who don’t automatically qualify can still apply before the August deadline. The benefits can be used anywhere SNAP is accepted.
