Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –The northern New Mexico pueblo of Pojaque has announced they’ve purchased a piece of privately owned ancestral land, about .75 of a square mile in the upper Rio Grande Basin, in the Pojoaque Valley. The Pueblo’s Governor Jenelle Roybal says that over the years, they’ve been doing their best to reclaim, and get any land that they possibly can back to their pueblo family. Adding, that they do have maps, but the site is sensitive, so the Pueblo of Pojoaque doesn’t want us publishing maps. The pueblo got some help from a non-profit that had recently helped a California pueblo reclaim some of its own land. Governor Roybal said that the pueblo will be protecting their newly reclaimed land from development and caring for the wildlife
