Las Cruces, NM (KKOB) – New information is being released regarding the duplex explosion in Las Cruces last week that killed one person. Las Cruces Fire and ATF have determined that the explosion originated from inside the trunk of a vehicle parked inside a garage of the residence and had a cylinder of Acetylene inside the trunk and was the fuel source for the explosion.
It is still unknown what ignited it. One person was killed in the explosion who was inside the vehicle and has not been identified.
The remains were transported to the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator, which is continuing its investigation and will determine the official cause of death.
Neighboring residents temporarily displaced by the incident have since been allowed to return to their homes.
