Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – Public memorial services have been announced for New Mexico musician Al Hurricane Junior.
The Sanchez family says a rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 12, followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Albuquerque. Known as “El Godson,” Al Hurricane Junior was a longtime figure in New Mexico music, following in the footsteps of his father, Al Hurricane. He spent decades performing across the state, helping carry on the genre’s blend of traditional Hispanic and American sounds. Friends and fans remember him for his dedication to the music and its cultural roots. The public is invited to attend and pay their respects.
