Two New Mexico breweries are earning international recognition after taking home awards at this year’s World Beer Cup, widely considered one of the most prestigious beer competitions in the world.
Ex Novo Brewing Company and Quarter Celtic Brewpub, both based in the Albuquerque area, each secured medals in their respective categories, continuing a strong run for local craft brewers on the global stage.
Ex Novo Brewing Company was awarded a bronze medal in the Dortmunder/Export or German-Style Oktoberfest category for its beer, “Munder, She Wrote.” The brewery, which originally launched in Oregon, expanded to New Mexico in 2019 and has since shifted its focus بالكامل to the state, including operating a location in downtown Albuquerque. This latest win adds to previous World Beer Cup honors for the brewery, including medals in 2022 and 2023 for its Vienna-style lager.
Meanwhile, Quarter Celtic Brewpub earned a silver medal in the Irish-Style Red Ale category for “Crimson Lass.” The Albuquerque brewpub, known for its Irish and Scottish-style beers, says the award marks its fourth consecutive year receiving recognition at the international competition.
The team behind Quarter Celtic credits its brewing staff for maintaining consistency and quality, noting that while the brewery may be smaller than others, it continues to compete at a high level.
The World Beer Cup, first held in 1996, brings together breweries from around the globe to compete across a wide range of styles. The full list of winners is available online.
