Las Cruces, NM (KKOB) – One person is dead and a duplex completely destroyed in Las Cruces. The explosion happened shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday, This morning,. Las Cruces fire and police investigators, along with investigators from ATF, are looking into the cause of the explosion and subsequent fire. Firefighters located one victim dead inside the residence.
The explosion and fire caused a portion of the structure, primarily the roof of the garage, to collapse. There were two vehicles inside the garage.
Three residents from the adjoining home are temporarily displaced and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
The victim’s remains will be transported to the New Mexico Medical Investigator’s Office in Albuquerque for autopsy.
