Former NHL forward Claude Lemieux, a four-time Stanley Cup champion, has died at the age of 60.
The National Hockey League and multiple teams confirmed his death Thursday. A cause of death has not been officially released.
Lemieux spent 21 seasons in the NHL, playing for several teams including the Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, and Colorado Avalanche. He won four Stanley Cup titles during his career and was named playoff MVP in 1995 after leading the New Jersey Devils to a championship.
Over his career, Lemieux played more than 1,200 regular-season games and was widely known for his performance in the playoffs, where he scored 80 career postseason goals.
He appeared at a Canadiens playoff game in Montreal earlier this week, taking part in a pregame ceremony.
