SANTA FE, N.M. — A state-run mental health app in New Mexico is set to shut down next week after officials say it saw limited use.
The New Mexico Health Care Authority announced that the NM Connect app will be discontinued Tuesday, with resources being redirected to other behavioral health programs.
The app was designed to help users find mental health resources and connect with support services, but officials say it did not attract enough users to continue operating.
Despite the shutdown, state leaders say support remains available through the 988 crisis line, which connects people to trained counselors by phone, text, or chat. Officials say the service operates 24 hours a day and is commonly used by younger individuals, including teens and young adults.
According to the state, most calls to 988 are handled quickly and often do not require additional emergency services.
The Health Care Authority says it will continue investing in other programs aimed at improving access to behavioral health resources across New Mexico.
