Carlsbad Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run involving a 19-year-old man and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver involved.
Officers say they responded around 5:48 a.m. Monday to the 3700 block of Standpipe Road, where they found the man unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, the victim had been riding a minibike southbound on Standpipe Road when he was struck by a vehicle. Police believe the crash happened several hours earlier, sometime after 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
Authorities say the driver involved left the scene without reporting the collision or providing aid.
At this time, no suspect or vehicle description has been released. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and work to determine what led up to the crash.
