Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Luz Rivera, director of El Paso Texas Trucking School, has responded to allegations from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton that the school provided inadequate commercial driver training and certified non-English speakers. Paxton said federal law requires commercial driver’s license holders to “read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals in English, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records. “Putting non-English speakers behind the wheel of 18-wheelers in America can pose serious threats to public safety.” Rivera said all skills evaluations at EP Trucking are administered in English by qualified examiners, and that some students may complete their written examinations in Spanish, as is permitted.
