Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – Edgar Mendoza Silva of Albuquerque was found guilty late Friday of Homicide by Vehicle for a fatal crash that happened on August of 2024.
Mendoza Silva was speeding along Central Avenue near 47th Street when he lost control of his truck crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on with a vehicle driven by Carlos Lucero.
Lucero died at the scene.
Toxicology reports showed that Mendoza Silva had alcohol, cocaine, and marijuana in his system at the time of the crash.
Mendoza Silva now faces the maximum penalty of up to 15 years in prison.
Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.
