Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – A man convicted of sexually abusing two boys over several years has been sentenced to 55 years in prison. Lucas Miltenberger, could have received up to a 91 and a half year sentence in the case. In January, a jury convicted Miltenberger of multiple crimes, including criminal sexual penetration of a child, intimidation of a witness, and child abuse. Between 2016 and 2023, Miltenberger repeatedly sexually abused two boys while in a position of trust and authority over them.
The case began in February 2023, when the Albuquerque Police Department opened an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse of a minor. During a forensic interview, the child identified Lucas Miltenberger as the person responsible. Because the allegations involved more than one jurisdiction, the case was turned over to the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau the following month.
During their work on the case, NMSP agents identified a second potential victim. An interview with that child produced additional disclosures consistent with criminal sexual contact of a minor.
On September 9, 2024, a grand jury indicted Miltenberger on a range of felony charges, including eight counts of Criminal Sexual Penetration in the Second Degree, Bribery of a Witness, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, multiple counts of Criminal Sexual Contact of a Minor, and Abuse of a Child. He was arrested on September 24, 2024.
