Santa Fe, NM (KKOB) – Santa Fe lawmakers declined to fund several major items on the city’s capital outlay wish list this year, including wastewater upgrades and midtown redevelopment infrastructure.
The city did secure funding for continued expansion at the Santa Fe Regional Airport. Legislators earmarked $3.25 million for Phase Two of the airport’s terminal expansion, marking at least the third straight year funding has been directed toward the facility.
Airport officials say Phase One, completed in late 2024, quickly reached capacity as passenger traffic continued to grow. The next phase will add three gates, expand the terminal by about 44-thousand square feet, and include new amenities while preserving the airport’s local character. Construction is still several years away.
On Wednesday April 15th a town meeting will be held to discuss the proposed new access road project that would connect the NM Highway 599 and Jaguar Road interchange to Aviation Drive just east of the new airport parking area. The project includes a 500 to 800 foot wide study corridor between the interchange and the parking area.
