Lakewood, CO (KKOB)- A New Mexico man is in jail in Colorado for the murder of his brother that happend on Saturday March 28, in Sapello, New Mexico which is north of Las Vegas.
33-year old Jaime Gilbert Martinez was arrested in Lakewood, Colorado, thanks to cooperation between New Mexico State Police and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. According to state police, officers arrived at a location in Sapello and found Elijah Martinez dead and determined the death was a homicide. Authorities say that Jaime Martinez, Elijah’s brother, traveled to the Denver area where he was arrested after a short standoff with police.
Jaime Martinez is still in jail in Colorado awaiting extradition to New Mexico.
