Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Lincoln County officials will hold a meeting tonight in Ruidoso to explain a voluntary buyout program for homes located in the new floodplain created by previous wildfire burn scars. The program will move people out of harms way and create a better floodway so that future flooding is less dangerous. Federal, state and local funding to the tune of $235 million is available for the 420 properties identified in the top two priority categories. Lincoln county officials are hoping residents begin the registration process sooner than later as another monsoon season approaches. Applications will be available at tonight’s 5pm meeting or online at lincolnready.com. Tonight’s meeting will be at Eastern NM University’s Ruidoso campus.
