ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Traffic was temporarily halted on I-25 southbound near Montaño Boulevard Wednesday afternoon after a vehicle fire broke out around 3:30 p.m. Albuquerque Fire Rescue’s Engine 15 responded to the scene, where New Mexico State Police had reported a fully involved SUV.
All southbound lanes and one northbound lane were shut down as crews worked to control the fire. Engine 15 arrived and stretched a line to suppress the flames. The fire was contained without injuries, and the cause remains under investigation.
Officials say lanes are reopening, but drivers are advised to seek alternate routes until traffic flow returns to normal.
