Sheliky Sanchez
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police have filed additional charges against Sheliky Sanchez, the 18-year-old already accused of murdering Uber driver Joseph Andrus last week.
According to the Albuquerque Police Department, Sanchez is now facing aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and intimidating a witness, stemming from a separate incident in May 2025. Officers responded to a home on Estrella Brilliante Street NW, where a 7-year-old boy reported that Sanchez, his half-brother, pointed a handgun at his forehead while drinking alcohol.
The child told officers he was “super afraid” and later informed his grandmother about the incident. Detectives attempted to schedule a forensic interview with the boy, but efforts were hindered by a lack of cooperation from family members.
Following Sanchez’s arrest for murder, detectives contacted his attorney on August 13 but were informed that Sanchez would not participate in an interview.
Sanchez was previously charged with an open count of murder, armed robbery, and tampering with evidence in connection to the fatal shooting of Andrus after an Uber ride. He remains in custody.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
