ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico is looking for high school students to take the lead in keeping their communities clean. The state has launched the Land of Enchantment Young Ambassador Program, which will pay selected students to organize litter cleanup projects and promote environmental awareness.
The program is open to high school juniors and seniors for the 2025–2026 school year. Two students will be chosen from each of six regional areas across the state. In addition to leading cleanup efforts, ambassadors will complete a capstone project that benefits their local community.
Participants will receive training in project management and community leadership, and will be paired with a local beautification organization for mentorship and support. Once the program is completed, each student will receive a $3,000 stipend.
Applications are open now through August 15, and ambassadors will be announced in early September.
