Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Roswell officials are looking for a temporary fix to an ongoing 911 dispatcher shortage. The Pecos Valley Regional Communications Center currently has six open dispatcher positions and is seeking approval for a six-month, $269,000 contract extension with a staffing service. The center handles police, fire, and emergency calls across Chaves County and answered more than 129,000 calls last year, including 34,000 911 calls. Officials say temporary dispatchers are helping fill the gaps while the city continues recruiting and training permanent employees.
