Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – A judge ruled today Tuesday that Jenipher Lewis will remain in custody as her case moves through the judicial process. Lewis was involved in a now viral road rage incident at an Albuquerque’s intersection where video showed her smashing the rear window of a white pickup truck with a baseball bat.
Investigators say she was driving with her children as passengers in an SUV at the intersection of Wyoming Boulevard and Constitution Avenue and while stopped at the intersection she became involved in a verbal altercation with the driver of a white pickup truck.
According to investigators and video from witnesses and street cameras, Lewis got out of her vehicle carrying a baseball bat and smashed the truck’s rear window. The driver of the truck then rammed his vehicle into Lewis’ car once they both entered the intersection. They both fled immediately from the scene. During her arrest Lewis told investigators that the pickup truck had pulled out in front of her from a parking lot and she had to swerve to avoid it. She then pulled along side the truck at the intersection and yelled at the driver who according to Lewis just laughed at her. She says that is when she got out of her SUV with the bat and smashed the rear window of the truck.
Lewis is currently charged with child abuse not resulting in great bodily harm and reckless driving. Police are still searching for the driver of the white truck.
