ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Residents in and around Albuquerque may notice an increased military presence beginning this week as Kirtland Air Force Base conducts a readiness exercise from Thursday through October 30.
Base officials say the exercise is part of routine training designed to ensure personnel are prepared to respond to a variety of situations and maintain operational readiness.
During the exercise, nearby residents may hear loudspeaker announcements, simulated gunfire, and other training-related noises. Officials also advise that some roads and gates on or near the installation could be temporarily closed as activities are underway.
The base emphasized that the increased activity is part of a planned training exercise and is not related to any emergency situation.
Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly and expect occasional disruptions near the installation through the end of the month.
