Las Cruces, NM (KKOB) – Former Las Cruces educator and coach, Wyatt Cornelius, has pleaded guilty in a child sex crime case. During a court hearing Monday, the 43-year-old admitted to charges of child solicitation and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Prosecutors say the plea agreement resulted in the dismissal of a criminal sexual contact charge and two additional charges from a separate case involving a second alleged victim. According to the Third Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Cornelius will be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years and could face prison time.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 5.
