ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico State Fair is searching for singers to perform the national anthem during this year’s PRCA rodeo events at Tingley Coliseum.
Fair officials announced auditions are now open for solo performers and small groups interested in singing before one of seven rodeo performances scheduled during the 2026 New Mexico State Fair, which runs Sept. 10 through Sept. 20.
Performers can choose to audition in person or virtually.
Live auditions will take place Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the African American Performing Arts Center on the Expo New Mexico fairgrounds.
Those opting for a virtual audition can submit a video recording through the fair’s application process.
Auditions are open to participants of all ages, although groups are limited to four members or fewer. The deadline to apply for in-person auditions or submit virtual entries is Aug. 24 at 11:59 p.m.
A judging panel will evaluate performances based on overall presentation, accuracy of lyrics, and musical accuracy.
Selected performers will have the opportunity to sing in front of thousands of spectators at a PRCA rodeo event inside Tingley Coliseum. Winners will also receive two tickets to the rodeo and concert on the day they perform.
Additional information and applications are available through the New Mexico State Fair website.
