Santa Fe, NM (KKOB) – Street arrests by ICE agents have been increasing once again in New Mexico. In the latest incident, agents arrested a man as he was taking his daughter to a medical appointment at the La Familia Medical Center on Alto Street in Santa Fe around 9:20 Wednesday morning.
According to witnesses, the man was arrested and agents left the little girl in the car and she was later released to a family member.
Our news partners, KOAT, contacted Homeland Security to confirm the arrest and request information about the man’s identity, the reason for his detention and where he was taken. DHS had not responded as of Wednesday night.
According to Congresswoman Teresa Leger at least 8 people were taken into custody by ICE as part of a larger immigration enforcement operaetion in Santa Fe on Wednesday. La Familia wants to make sure that people know that the operation happened in the parking lot and not inside the health facility and that they are trained on how to deal with agents if they try to enter their facilities.
