ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A quiet stretch near one of Albuquerque’s historic hotels became the focus of a major police operation Thursday as SWAT officers worked to take a wanted individual into custody.
The incident unfolded near Central Avenue and Elm Street, close to Hotel Parq Central, where Albuquerque police established a perimeter while specialized units responded to the scene.
According to the Albuquerque Police Department, officers were attempting to arrest a wanted person when the situation escalated into a barricade incident.
Few details have been released, and authorities have not yet confirmed whether the suspect has been taken into custody. Police also have not disclosed the nature of the warrant or the charges involved.
The visible law enforcement presence drew attention from residents, businesses, and motorists in the area as officers worked to resolve the situation safely.
APD says the investigation remains active and additional information is expected once the operation concludes.
