Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –A new fire is being reported within Carlsbad Caverns National Park. The Slaughter Fire is in rugged terrain 12 miles west of Whites City and is about 30 acres in size. There are currently no impacts on park operations although smoke may be visible from Carlsbad Caverns National Park lands and Whites City. The U.S. Wildland Fire Service is responding to the fire and we’ll update you on any new developments as they become available.
