Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — After nearly 5 hours of debate, Bernalillo County commissioners denied an appeal over a proposed Islamic center in the North Valley. The Albuquerque Islamic Center said it has worked on the project for the past two years. The proposed campus would include a mosque, though plans for a school were dropped as part of the approval process. The center would go near Second Street and Alameda. While some Albuquerque residents spoke in support of the project during the meeting, other residents raised concerns about traffic congestion near Alameda and Second Street
