Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Mummified human remains that were found in 2023 have finally been identified. They were discovered between two walls inside a building Highway 70 by construction workers in Ruidoso Downs. Using DNA testing and genealogy, investigators were able to track down a relative of the victim who confirmed they had a family member who had been missing for years. The unidentified remains were confirmed through dental records obtained by the Office of the Medical Investigator as belonging to 50-year-old Freddy Ray Baca from Ruidoso. Investigators learned that Baca was last seen by family in 2018; however, he was not reported missing.
