**UPDATE: All Bernalillo Public Schools are canceled today, Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Due to an active shooter situation in the Town of Bernalillo. Reports by the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office indicated that the situation involving shots fired due to a road rage incident near the Rail Runner Express station. The situation is near Bernalillo High School and according to the school district school buses were unable to leave the lot. School will resume on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Additional information will be posted on the school districts Facebook page.

Bernalillo, NM (KKOB) – Bernalillo Public Schools were put on a two-hour delay today and Rail Runner Express service suspended due to an active shooter situation in the Town of Bernalillo Tuesday morning. Bernalillo Public Schools were delayed in part due to school buses unable to leave the transportation hub due to the police activity. Rail Runner Express service was suspended this morning since around 6 a.m. due to the reports of an active shooter in the area near the Rail Runner station. Police have not provided any details on what is happening in the area.
