STATE POLICE LT. ELIZABETH ARMIJO TELLS US THE SITUATION INVOLVED AN BERNALILLO POLICE OFFICER WHO OPENED FIRE ON A SUSPECT WHO WAS ARMED. SHE SAYS 70 YEAR OLD FERNAND “FRED” LETE SHOT AND KILLED 55 YEAR OLD MICHAEL LAPLANTE AT THE K-O-A IN BERNALILLO. IT IS THOUGHT THE KILLING WAS THE RESULT OF LAPLANTE HAVING A RELATIONSHIP WITH LETE’S EX-WIFE. BOTH MEN WERE HOT-AIR BALLOON PILOTS.
