ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Republican gubernatorial candidate Gregg Hull has formally congratulated Governor-elect Deb Haaland following her victory in New Mexico’s 2026 governor’s race.
In a statement released Thursday, Hull said he personally called Haaland to congratulate her and wish her success as she prepares to take office.
“I called Deb Haaland to congratulate her on her win, and I wish her every success as our next governor,” Hull said.
Hull emphasized the importance of moving forward following the election and said New Mexico’s future success should remain a common goal regardless of political differences.
“Her success is New Mexico’s success, and every one of us should want that for our state,” Hull said. “We had real differences in this campaign, and that’s how it should be. But the election is over, and now we all have a stake in seeing New Mexico’s families, schools, and economy thrive.”
Hull also thanked supporters, volunteers, donors, and his lieutenant governor running mate, David Gallegos, for their efforts throughout the campaign.
“To everyone who knocked a door, made a call, or gave what they could, thank you,” Hull said. “You ran a campaign New Mexico can be proud of.”
Haaland was projected the winner of the governor’s race Tuesday night and will succeed term-limited Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham when she takes office.
Hull previously served 12 years as mayor of Rio Rancho, the longest tenure in the city’s history.
