Santa Fe, NM (KKOB) – A new roundabout is under construction in an area of Santa Fe where several fatal crashes have happened recently and averages over five crashes a year making it one of the city’s most dangerous intersections.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that the idea of a roundabout at Cottonwood Drive and Agua Fría Street goes back to a road study done in 2012. Since then, the amount of crashes have increased while the overall traffic volume has dropped by 20-percent. The city blames visibility issues and not driver behavior as the root cause.
The $4.2 million project started Monday and is expected end in summer 2027.
