Silver city, NM (KKOB) – A Wyoming woman who admitted to killing her 11 month old baby in order to avoid returning him to his father, has pled guilty to murder. The case involved a child custody battle that culminated in Grant County in southwestern New Mexico when Madeline Daly killed her son in an RV outside of Silver City in December. Daly had violated a court order that granted emergency custody to the child’s father. Daly is now facing the maximum sentence of life in prison.
Grant County Sheriff’s officials reported that Daly brought her 11-month-old son into New Mexico from Wyoming, and on December 23, 2025, they answered a call along Highway 15 following a tip that Daly had been found. During the standoff authorities heard a gun shot and rushed into the RV and discovered Daly had fatally shot her son with a 9mm handgun.
