Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –The Bernalillo County Commission on Tuesday approved two workforce housing ordinances which will bring almost 440 new multifamily housing units to Albuquerque. Soluna West is a proposed 185 unit apartment complex near 86th and Sunset Gardens Road SW along with The View at Sunport, a proposed 254 unit apartment community to be constructed at 2900 Transport St., SE. Both complexes will target households earning between 80 and 120% of the area median income. The developments are intended to help households earning too much to qualify for traditional affordable housing programs but are finding it harder to keep up with rising market rents. The ordinances give tax exemption authority for the proposed developments to secure financing and begin construction.
