Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –The Albuquerque Isotopes unveiled a limited edition on field Jersey today (Wed) for the upcoming Native American Heritage Night on Saturday, August 8th. The jersey was designed by local potter, Evone “Snowflake” Martinez. The unveiling happened at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center where the artist from San Ildefonso and Cochiti Pueblos explained the inspiration for the design of the jersey. She noted the jersey was not about her but about her ancestors and preserving their memories and the things they’ve taught her through the years.
An online auction of the signed game-worn Native American Heritage jerseys begins the night of the game on August 8th with proceeds benefitting the Bob Chavez Scholarship for the Arts. The limited edition jerseys will be available for purchase in the Isotopes Pro Shop during the game. A special Isotopes hat was also unveiled designed by Brittany Juanico from Isleta Pueblo. Hats will be given away that night to the first 2500 fans in attendance. The evening will include Native American Dance Performances and fireworks following the game.
