SANTA FE, N.M. — The New Mexico State Treasurer’s Office has announced the appointment of Anna Marie Lujan as its new Chief Financial Officer.
Lujan officially began her new role on July 20, bringing more than two decades of experience in public finance, budgeting, accounting, and government administration.
Before joining the Treasurer’s Office, Lujan served as Court Financial Operations Manager for the Second Judicial District Court, where she oversaw fiscal operations and budget management. She also previously held leadership positions as Fiscal Manager for the City of Albuquerque’s Health, Housing and Homelessness Department and as Court Executive Officer and Court Financial Officer for the Fourth Judicial District Court.
Lujan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems from New Mexico Highlands University.
State Treasurer Laura M. Montoya praised Lujan’s experience and thanked outgoing CFO Joseph Cohen for helping ensure a smooth transition.
In a statement, Lujan said she looks forward to continuing her work in public service and supporting fiscal accountability, transparency, and responsible stewardship of public funds.
The Treasurer’s Office also announced the addition of Anabel Varela, who recently joined the agency in an administrative support role.
